China Southern Airlines invests in new Shenzhen Base

With a total expenditure of 2.4 billion yuan ($341 million) China Southern Airlines has begun construction on its new base in Shenzhen, in the Guangdong Province in south China. China Southern Airlines' market share in Shenzhen last year was 33,1%. Currently, the airline has started or resumed flights on international routes connecting Shenzhen with places like Dubai, Hanoi, and Jakarta. In June, the company also intends to begin flights between Shenzhen and Sydney and Moscow.

 

Comac C919 enters commercial service

The Comac C919 entered commercial service on Sunday 28th May. The aircraft registered B-919A to China Eastern Airlines operated from Shanghai to Beijing Capital International Airport. COMAC Director of marketing and sales department Zhang Xiaoguang, said "The first commercial flight is a coming-of-age ceremony of the new aircraft, and C919 will get better and better if it stands the test of the market.”

 

Hainan Airlines reinstates Hunan to London Heathrow route

After being halted for three years owing to COVID-19, an international flight connecting Changsha, in the province of Hunan, with London is again operating again. Hainan Airlines will operate the route three times weekly using Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Hainan Airlines has resumed 20 routes to destinations in Europe, North America, and Asia.

 

Serbian and Chinese Civil Aviation Authorities Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

On May 15, 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Belgrade by representatives of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia and the Civil Aviation Administration of the People's Republic of China. The MoU aims to improve civil aviation cooperation and promote business ties between Air Serbia and Hainan Airlines.
