Beijing hosts first international forum on China's civil aviation standardization
On November 3, Beijing played host to the inaugural International Forum on China Civil Aviation Standardization, a two-day conference with the topic "Standard Innovation Drives High-Quality Development of Civil Aviation." At the forum, in-depth discussions were held on trending subjects such standardization-enhanced transformation and application of scientific and technological discoveries, international collaboration on sustainable aviation fuel, and intelligent airport building.
China awards type certification to the Embraer E190-E2
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has granted the Embraer E190-E2 its Type Certificate, ushering in an exciting new era for the E2 program in China. The larger E195-E2 aircraft from Embraer, which is now undergoing certification, is anticipated . President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation Arjan Meijer, said “CAAC’s certification of the E190-E2 is great news for Embraer and our prospective customers in China. Certification paves the way for significant E190-E2 business opportunities in China – data reveals that one billion people living in China’s second and third tier cities have never taken a flight.”
First Airbus A321 is assembled at Airbus Final Assembly Line in Asia
The first Airbus A321 aircraft to be built at Airbus' Final Assembly Line Asia (FAL Tianjin) in Tianjin, China, has been officially commissioned. In August 2022, the FAL in Tianjin formally began the conversion process to become A321 competent. Since operations began in 2008, this is the assembly line's first significant improvement. The first A321 aircraft at FAL Tianjin is expected to arrive in the first Airbus Executive Vice President and Airbus China CEO George Xu, said “The commissioning of the first A321 aircraft underlines Airbus' commitment to China, marking a new milestone in the industrial cooperation with our Chinese partners.”
GAMECO and Thales signed Industrial Collaboration Agreement
An Industrial Collaboration Agreement was signed between Thales and Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co. Ltd. (GAMECO) at the 14th Airshow China in Zhuhai. Thales China CEO Mr Thierry Weulersse, said "The agreement demonstrates GAMECO's continuous trust in Thales and recognition of the value of our premium services. Through this strong partnership, we will maintain the momentum of our collaboration in contributing to the high-quality development of Chinese civil aviation market with innovative products, solutions, and quality services.”
The Cathay Pacific Group expects to resume 70% of pre-COVID passenger capacity levels by end of 2023
The Cathay Pacific Group airlines Cathay Pacific and HK Express are dedicated to restoring passenger capacity and connectivity in the Hong Kong aviation hub to meet the demands of the Hong Kong and international travel markets. It projects that the Group will operate at roughly 70% of its pre-pandemic passenger flight capacity by the end of 2023, with the goal of returning to pre-pandemic levels by the end of 2024, ahead of the Asia-Pacific traffic projection released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).The Cathay Pacific Group CEO Augustus Tang said: “The Group is on track to achieve its target of operating up to one-third of its pre-pandemic passenger flight capacity levels by the end of 2022. This represents a doubling of the capacity that we offered in August and is approximately eight times the average capacity the airline operated in the first half of 2022.”
