Beijing's new airport saw four passenger planes completing test flights Monday morning. Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines respectively dispatched flagship models Boeing 747-8, Airbus 350-900 and A380. Meanwhile, Xiamen Airlines sent a Boeing 787-9 to take part in the test flights at Beijing Capital International Airport. The airport is scheduled to be completed 30 June and open 30 September. It aims to meet the country's surging air service demands and relieve the flight pressure at Beijing Capital International Airport. BOC Aviation delivers Airbus A320NEO to Air Macau BOC Aviation announced 29 April the delivery of an Airbus A320NEO aircraft to Air Macau. This aircraft is from the Company's existing order book. CDB Aviation Expands Asia Executive Team CDB Aviation announced 6^th May new executive appointments to its Asia team: Sign Kadouh took the position of Head of Commercial, Asia Pacific and Nick Seah assumed the role of Head of Commercial, Greater China & North Asia. China Airlines selects the Airbus A321neo to meet future regional requirements China Airlines has selected the Airbus A321neo as their optimum aircraft for its regional narrowbody operations. The Chinese airline will first introduce 14 leased A321neo which will enter into service starting in 2021, and the negotiation for additional 11 firm and 5 option aircraft orders will be initiated simultaneously. China targets self check-in at major airports China is gearing up for self check-ins at major airports, targeting improved airport operation efficiency amid robust growth, according to civil aviation authorities. In 2019, all airports with annual passenger throughput of 10 million level should make efforts to extend self check-in services to more than 70% of passengers, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Daxing Airport Set to Spur China Eastern's Overseas Expansion China Eastern Airlines will use Beijing's upcoming new airport as an opportunity to expand its international network, especially to destinations in economies participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. China Eastern is also ramping up efforts overseas, with focus on Europe, the Americas, Oceania, Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia this year. Smaller Chinese Airports Seeing New Surge in Business Last year, the airports of Quanzhou in Fujian province, Nantong, Changzhou and Xuzhou in Jiangsu province, Jieyang in Guangdong province and Yichang in Hubei province saw their annual passenger throughput reach 2.5 million, a jump of more than 30% year-on-year, according to data from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. In 2018, passenger throughput growth of major cities' airports was less than 10% year-on-year, while the growth rates of a number of third - and fourth-tier cities' airports were higher than 20%.
