Airbus to upgrade Chinese line for A321neo capacity
Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury, disclosed the plan during a third-quarter briefing the OEM plans to upgrade Final Assembly Line Asia in Tianjin (FAL Tianjin) for A321neo to meet market demand with production expected to commence in 2023/2024. Airbus COO China Michel Tran Van stated “The move aims to meet global market demand for the A321 series single-aisle aircraft, particularly from the Chinese market. It marks significant progress between Airbus and China in expanding industrial and supply chain cooperation.”
Green Flight Initiative Aired in North Bund International Aviation Forum
The first North Bund International Aviation Forum, with the theme on the sustainable development of the global aviation industry, was held in China's economic hub Shanghai, injecting new aviation elements and driving power into the city's development into an international shipping center. The forum was jointly organized by China Eastern Air Holding Company Limited and Shanghai Airport Authority. They discussed the new model of sustainable development and international cooperation in the industry around issues such as carbon emission reduction in civil aviation and construction of world-class aviation hubs, and released a number of major achievements and important initiatives in the industry.
IOC and Beijing 2022 say 15 airlines expected to provide flights to Winter Olympics
A total of 15 airlines have indicated they will offer flights to Beijing for the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, organisers revealed. Beijing 2022 and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have said travel to the Games will be made possible through charter, temporary and commercial flights with temporary flights set to be arranged from four hubs. Hong Kong, Paris, Singapore and Tokyo are set to serve as the hubs.
Maldives inaugurates Chinese-built apron at Velena Int'l Airport
A new expanded west apron at the Velena International Airport (VIA) in Maldives has been officially inaugurated, general contractor Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG). The expanded apron covers an area of 35,000 square meters and is part of the VIA development project. It was built by BUCG to international standards and can accommodate a maximum of nine code C aircraft.
