COMAC to increase C919 aircraft production

China Eastern Airlines launches C919 service between Beijing and Xi'an

China Eastern Airlines formally launched C919 service between Beijing and Xi'an in the Shaanxi province. According to data thee C919 fleet has operated 3,133 flights carrying nearly 420,000 passengers. The carrier operates a fleet of seven C919 aircraft on four domestic routes. In September 2023 the carrier and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) signed an agreement to order additional 100 C919 aircraft.

 

China Southern Airlines returns to Christchurch

China Southern Airlines announced it will return to Christchurch in October for an expanded season of its direct service between Christchurch Airport and Guangzhou, operating five times weekly using Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Christchurch Airport also signed MOU focused on growing the education, food safety and high value cargo services between the airline and airport.

Christchurch Airport General Manager of Aeronautical Development, Gordon Bevan said “We know China’s high value passengers – and those who come from further afield on this direct service – want to experience all the South Island of New Zealand has to offer. We recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding on our aligned goals, which include  further building the attraction of the South Island in the shoulder seasons. One of the aims of this work is to meet increasing interest from China’s travellers to ski here and we hope China Southern will be flying here year-round before much longer.”

 

COMAC to increase C919 aircraft production

Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC) announced it is accelerating its C919 production capacity to meet growing demand, and the aircraft is on track to be delivered to more carriers in the second half of 2024. The C919 carries up to 168 passengers with a range of 4,075 kilometres (2,530 miles), optimized for domestic and regional routes.

 

IndiGo CarGo launches new Kolkata-Ezhou service 

IndiGo CarGo commenced a new, three times weekly Airbus A321PF freighter service between its Kolkata hub and Ezhou in China’s Hubei Province. In an Linkedin post IndiGo Chief Commercial Officer, Mark Sutch said "A great pleasure to officiate at the opening of IndiGo CarGo’s latest phase of its international freighter strategy.”
