Air India reinstates Delhi to Vienna connectivity
Air India has reinstated its Delhi to Vienna effective from 18th February operating three times weekly using Boeing 787-8 aircraft, with the route Air India’s India-Europe frequency has now increased to 69 weekly flights. The route suspended from March 2020 due pandemic. Air India Chief Commercial and Transformation Officer Mr Nipun Aggarwal stated “A key element of Air India’s Vihaan.AI transformation is to keep enhancing connectivity between India's major cities and leading global destinations. Adding this new service to Vienna, following the recent service to Milan reiterates our commitment to this mission.This will further strengthen Air India’s footprint in Europe after the recently reinstated flight to Milan and the imminent resumption of service to Copenhagen. The resumption is in line with Air India’s focussed mission to enhance international connectivity between India and the rest of the world.”
Akasa Air strengthens connectivity in Uttar Pradesh
Akasa Air announced the addition of Varanasi, as its 14th destination on its growing network. The airline’s second destination in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The airline will increase frequency operating daily flights routing Varanasi-Bengaluru-Goa effective 1st March. Akasa Air Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Akasa Air Praveen Iyer said “The launch of daily flight operations to Varanasi will surely add to the rising traveller footfall in the city, easing travel connectivity from key metro destinations with our signature warm and efficient service at the most affordable fares. Boeing Forecasts 90% of new aircraft in single aisle segment in India
Boeing announced its 2022 Commercial Market Outlook (CMO) for India, forecasting long-term passenger growth rate of nearly 7% annually through 2041. Boeing forecasts that 90% of new airplane deliveries to India will be for single-aisle airplanes like the 737 MAX over the next 20 years. India will require approximately 2,210 new aircraft over the next two decades of which 1,983 units will be for single-aisle aircraft, while 227 units or 10% of new aircraft deliveries will be for widebody aircraft.Boeing Commercial Marketing managing director for Asia Pacific Dave Schulte said “Indian carriers will outpace global growth at nearly 7% and more than 80% of new airplane deliveries to this market will be for growth, while 20% of new airplanes will be for replacement of aging jets. This trend exemplifies India’s commitment to modernizing its fleet with more sustainable and fuel-efficient next-generation airplanes.”
IndiGo in Austrian National Tourist Office collaboration
IndiGo announced its first tourism collaboration with Austrian National Tourist Office, to promote travel to Vienna through its codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines. Recently IndiGo started daily connections to Vienna through Turkish Airlines Istanbul hub The partnership will contribute to increased accessibility, trade, and tourism across both the countries. IndiGo Head of Global Sales Mr. Vinay Malhotras stated "With IndiGo flights now available via Istanbul (under Turkish Airlines Codeshare) to Vienna and also Salzburg, travellers can soak in the rich cultural heritage, breath-taking architecture, and thriving arts scene of Austria's capital city. This not only strengthens the tourism network, but also boosts economic ties through the country's thriving trade, transportation, and machinery industries.”
