Air India updates website

In order to offer its local and international consumers an intuitive, educational digital channel, Air India recently announced a significant technology update and website redesign. The airline's website is a crucial part of properly catering to this expanding customer base, which will increase its direct-channel revenues and allow for the quick release of new user-friendly services. According to Dr. Satya Ramaswamy, Chief Digital and Technology Officer for Air India, said "This website upgrade we have launched now is just the first in a series of design, content, and feature improvements we have planned for the coming months that will culminate in what we believe will be a clear global leadership position for Air India's digital direct channels."

 

Airports Authority of India (AAI) announces plans to enhance Kolhapur Airport

Airports Authority of India (AAI) has undertaken the work for developing the airport for enhanced capacity and operations of Airbus A320 type of aircraft. The development project with an estimated cost of Rs. 256 Crore includes construction of the new terminal building front façade, is influenced, and derived from the commonly used arches in the heritage structures like Maharaja Palace, Bhavani Mandap, Panhala Fort of Kolhapur city. The AAI also plans an extension of runway, construction of new apron and parking stands to cater for growing passenger traffic. Kolhapur is a historical city situated on the banks of Panchganga river in the southern part of Maharashtra.

 

IndiGo inducts second Boeing 777-300(ER) aircraft

IndiGo announced it has inducted its second Boeing 777-300(ER) aircraft, on damp lease from Turkish Airlines, which will operate to and from Mumbai- Istanbul route, effective 17 May  These aircraft have been introduced to meet rising demand for international travel from India. Indigo CEO Pieter Elbers “We are pleased to induct our second Boeing 777 aircraft on damp lease, which will operate on the Mumbai-Istanbul route. Through this addition, we are implementing our strategy and delivering on our promise to provide more convenient travel options for people looking to travel between India and Europe this summer. Istanbul being a key stop, is also connecting 33 European destinations via our codeshare connectivity. The new aircraft will not only increase capacity on the route but also help in keeping the fares affordable."

 

Star Air adds Embraer E175 to boost efficiency

Star Air has commenced revenue flights on its first Embraer 175 aircraft. The first flight took place on 13 May operating from Bangalore-Hyderabad-Jamnagar-Bangalore. The carrier has leased fleet of four Embraer 175s and these aircraft will boost the airline’s existing fleet of five ERJ 145s, providing the airline greater flexibility and efficiency as it grows its network.
