AirAsia resumes flights from India to Malaysia, Thailand AirAsia has resumed flights from India to Malaysia, Thailand including six new routes from India to Malaysia include Bengaluru to Kuala Lumpur (KL) and Chennai to Kuala Lumpur , Tiruchirappalli to KL, Kochi - KL commencing 18 April, Kolkata - KL commencing 23 April and Hyderabad - KL commencing 1st May. The carrier will launch five new routes from India to Thailand in May including Bengaluru-Bangkok (Don Mueang),  Chennai-Bangkok (Don Mueang), Kolkata-Bangkok (Don Mueang) and Kochi-Bangkok (Don Mueang), and Jaipur-Bangkok (Don Mueang). GA Telesis Engine Services Signs Major CFM56-5B Engine Overhaul Contract with AirAsia India GA Telesis Engine Services and AirAsia India signed a contract covering the airline’s Airbus A320 fleet. The agreement covers maintenance, repair, and overhaul of the CFM56-5B fleet and includes leased engine support and LLP management. The first engine will be inducted into GATES in early April. In addition, GA Telesis also signed an engine LRU/accessories repair and exchange pool agreement to support the airline’s line maintenance requirements. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) delivers first India-made Dornier 228 to Alliance Air Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has delivered the first civil Dornier-228 aircraft to Alliance Air. The aircraft will be deployed in Arunachal Pradesh to facilitate connectivity with states in the country’s Northeast under the Regional Connectivity Scheme Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN).  Marking the occasion of delivery of the aircraft Alliance Air tweeted, “Alliance Air will take off into the skies of Arunachal Pradesh with its #MadeInIndia fleet - HAL Dornier 228, working towards a mission to connect the North-Eastern Region of India to enhance commerce and economic growth". The HAL Do- 228 is a versatile aircraft well-suited for operations in the Northeast and has the capabilities of short take-off and landing, the ability to land and take-off from semi-prepared runways with flexibility of day and night operations. IndiGo sixth largest airline in the world by passenger volume in March: OAG IndiGo has been ranked as the world's sixth largest carrier by passenger volume for March by leading global travel data provider OAG. IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta said, "It is exciting to see IndiGo among the top airlines in the world. This will allow an even greater number of passengers to experience an affordable, on-time, safe and hassle-free travel experience, onboard our lean clean flying machine.” Qantas unveils direct flights on Bengaluru-Sydney route for the first time Qantas announced it will operate four weekly return flights between Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru and Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport with its wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft, commencing 14tH September. Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said “For the first time, Southern India will have a direct connection to Australia, which will make travel between the two countries more convenient and much faster for customers. The signing of the Australia-India free trade agreement will also drive travel demand as trade and investment links expand between Australia and India’s population of more than one billion people.
