AAI commits to growth path
The Chairman of Airports Authority of India (AAI) committed to growth of airports infrastructure in India on marking the occasion of 76th Independence Day, at an event held in Delhi. Chairman of the Airports Authority of India Sanjeev Kumar stated "As a citizen, I am very proud of our achievement in 75 years. As a chairman of AAI, I feel very privileged and proud that we are contributing to the growth of this country. We have to invest a lot in the construction of new airports, expanding new airports and also improving and adding many facilities on the air side, increasing the ATC strength and equipment ".
Air India connects Ahmedabad and Pune
Air India has launched a new route connecting Ahmedabad and Pune to meet demand locally enabled by restoring previously pre-covid capacity. Air India CEO & MD Campbell Wilson stated “We are excited to launch flight between Ahmedabad and Pune, which are key growth centres in Gujarat and Maharashtra, respectively. This new addition is set to improve Air India’s domestic connectivity and empower our customers with more travel options. We look forward to further augmenting our domestic connectivity and introducing new routes over the coming months as more aircraft return to service.”
Alliance Air to operate new ATR42-600 to Kullu
Alliance Air announced the carrier will operate its new ATR42-600 aircraft VT-UDA msn 1608 between Delhi and Kullu via Chandigarh, in the state of Himachal Pradesh, effective from today Monday 15th August, with the carrier operating a mix of direct and indirect services depending on the day of operation. In February announcing the order for two ATR42-600 aircraft, Alliance Air CEO Vineet Sood stated “Thanks to the unique features of the ATR 42-600, Alliance Air will proudly fulfill the mission assigned by the Indian government to make the most inaccessible regions accessible.”
First Boeing 737-800(SF) delivered to QuickJet
Indian cargo airline QuickJet has taken delivery of its Boeing 737-800(SF). The aircraft N120MN (msn 30643) was ferried Jinan (China) to Bangalore following P2F cargo conversion. The aircraft was formerly operated by Danish carrier Jet Time as OY-JZI.
Ras Al-Khaimah becomes 100th destination for IndiGo
Indian LCC IndiGo, announced Ras Al-Khaimah as its 100th destination. The airline will commence new launch a new route between Mumbai and Ras AlKhaimah from 22nd September operating daily using Airbus A320/1 aircraft. IndiGo Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer Sanjay Kumar said “We are pleased to announce our entry into the fourth Emirate with Ras Al-Khaimah as our 26th international and 100th overall destination. These new flights will cater to the high demand for travel to Ras Al Khaimah, with India being the third largest international source market for the city in 2021, and traffic expected to reach pre-pandemic levels this year. RAK is also focussing on becoming the regional leader in sustainable tourism, which aligns well with our overall focus on sustainability. The increased connectivity will not only bolster trade but also strengthen sustainable and responsible tourism between the countries.”
