BIAL's chief operating officer Thomas Andersson to leave the airport on 31 August
Thomas Hoff Andersson, the chief operating officer of Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) announced that he will be leaving the company and August 31, 2020, will be his last date. In a Linkedin post, he said that he is moving back to Scandinavia and will be grateful for the opportunity to work in Bengaluru & India. He listed the new runway, the Skytrax award for the best international airport in India and Central Asia, five ACI awards and implementation of world's first contactless passenger journey as his achievements. He joined the airport in April 2019 and was responsible for aviation safety, security, landside, terminal and airside operations, engineering and maintenance, IT operations and projects, enterprise risk, marketing.
BIAL records 79 per cent growth in cargo handling during April-July
The Bengaluru International Airport Ltd (BIAL), which operates the Kempegowda International airport, has processed 71,406 tonnes of cargo during months of April to July registering a 79 per cent growth in cargo air traffic movement. The 71,406 tonnes cargo included 6,194 perishables and 2,300 tonnes of pharma supplies besides 341 tonnes of COVID 19 related cargo.
Domestic air traffic recovers marginally in July, up 6.1% MoM
India’s domestic air traffic made a minor recovery in July, growing to 21.07 lakh passengers, a 6.1% increase from June, when 19.84 lakh fliers took to the air.
Indian government allows tourist visa holders to fly to UAE, US, UK and Canada under air bubble agreement
In a letter to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation has said that air travellers from India, with any kind of valid visa, will be allowed to travel to the US, UK, Canada and UAE under a bilateral Air Bubble agreement with these countries. This includes those with tourist, business, student and transit visas.
