Alliance Air to operate as stand-alone carrier
India Regional carrier Alliance Air is to operate as stand-alone carrier following separation from Air India Group under the ownership of the Indian Government, effective from 15th April. In a statement the carrier said “Passengers holding tickets of Air India with a 4-digit flight number starting with 9 or 3-digit flight number starting with 91 may please be informed that these bookings belong to Alliance Air. Bookings and queries related to Alliance Air will not be handled by Air India from April 15, 2022.”
IndiGo appoints Vikram Singh Mehta and Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa (Retd.) as Independent Non-Executive Directors
The Board of Directors (Board) of InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo) announced the appointment of Mr. Vikram Singh Mehta and Air Chief Marshal B. S. Dhanoa (Retd.) as the Independent Non-Executive Directors, subject to receipt of security clearance from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and approval of the Members of the Company. IndiGo CEO Mr Ronojoy Dutta said “All of us at IndiGo are absolutely thrilled to have two such distinguished personalities join our Board. Mr. Mehta brings years of experience running major corporations and a wealth of knowledge from working on some of the leading Boards in India. We will gain immensely from Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa’s exemplary leadership and crisis management skills. We look forward to the guidance and counsel of these two very special people.”
IndiGo and Qatar Airways reactivate code-sharing agreement
IndiGo airlines and Qatar Airways announced they have reactivated their code-sharing agreement, following the Indian government's move to lift the suspension of international flights last month. IndiGo is currently operating 154 flights per week between Doha and eight cities in India and Qatar Airways is currently operating 190 flights per week to and from 12 cities in India. As part of this expanded code-share agreement, Qatar Airways will be placing its marketing code on IndiGo-operated flights between Doha and Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad effective from 25 April and Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi, Kozhikode, effective from 9 May. Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker said "The reactivation of our strategic partnership with IndiGo is another milestone in the development of aviation between the State of Qatar and India. Together, both Qatar Airways and IndiGo will offer over 340 flights per week to 13 destinations in India.”
Vistara partners with Ireland based Aerospace Software Development (ASD) to introduce RFIDAeroCheck
Vistara partners with Ireland based Aerospace Software Development (ASD) to deploy RFIDAeroCheck technology as part of its commitment to maintaining highest safety standards. The RFIDAeroCheck technology enables efficient management of all life-limited components, ensuring their presence on the aircraft as well as tracking expiry dates. This is done by storing information related to tracked components within a server-wide application database including information on defined equipment types, aircraft locations and configurations as well as information on various parts. Using the latest ATA Spec2000 and GS1 standards, RFIDAeroCheck is fully compliant with industry standards. Managing Director, Aerospace Software Development David Browne said “We are delighted that Vistara selected ASD as their RFID partner and we are very proud to have Vistara as our first airline customer in India. Working in partnership with Vistara, we have implemented the RFIDAeroCheck solution on time and on budget. The successful implementation of RFIDAeroCheck at Vistara will lead to tracking of all emergency equipment on aircraft in a fraction of the time currently required and with significant financial savings.”
