Air Canada has great confidence in Indian market In the backdrop of the annual national convention of the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber (ICBC) held here earlier this week, The Sunday Guardian caught up with Margaret Skinner, Air Canada’s Director Sales, who spoke candidly about Air Canada’s vision, expansion plans and her confidence in the Indian aviation market. India agrees to co-operate with Poland in Civil Aviation sector India has entered into an agreement with Poland for co-operation in the field of civil aviation. The decision was taken by the Union Cabinet which approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Poland for the "promotion of civil aviation co-operation". "The MoU will be signed on behalf of the two countries after its approval by the two governments. The MoU would be for a term of five years," an official statement said. "The objective of the MoU is to recognize the mutual benefit of co-operation in the field of civil aviation having particular significance in establishing and improving regional air connectivity in India”. India's Bizav Seeks More Room for Helicopters A  working group will be formed by early January to look into the travails of India's helicopter industry, Jayant Sinha, state minister for civil aviation confirmed at the second annual Aero Expo held in Delhi on November 2. Languishing in India for sheer lack of awareness and political will, helicopter services were set to get a boost in the new civil aviation policy announced last year. But the major proposals, including one on helicopters being free to fly below 5,000 feet without prior ATC clearance, has not been implemented, as an air defense clearance has yet to be resolved. IndiGo receives first ATR turbo-prop aircraft IndiGo received the first turbo-prop aircraft ATR 72-600 as it prepares to foray into regional operations from December. The profitable airline, which faces competition from the likes of SpiceJet, Jet Airways and Air India, has placed orders for 50 such aircraft with Franco-Italian manufacturer ATR. The order is also the biggest placed by any Indian carrier with the company. Jazeera Air launches Kuwait-Hyderabad flight Jazeera Airways has launched direct Kuwait to Hyderabad daily flight and announced plans to connect Kochi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad by January next. The Kuwait-based, exchange-listed, low-cost carrier, outlined its long-term plans to further connect more cities in India, hoping the Indian Civil Aviation Ministry would allow more seats between Kuwait and India. Magellan Aerospace Breaks Ground for New Manufacturing and Assembly Plant in India Magellan Aerospace hosted a traditional groundbreaking ceremony for the company's new manufacturing and assembly facility in India.   Magellan was honoured to have Canada's federal minister of International Trade, The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne participate in the event that was also attended by an esteemed group of customers, government officials and local business colleagues.  The new 140,000 square foot building will be constructed on seven acres in Hitech Defence and Aerospace Park (Aerospace SEZ Sector) in Devanahalli, Bengaluru, near the Bangalore International Airport. Telangana emerging hub for aviation Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has highlighted the advantages of Telangana for the aviation industry growth as Hyderabad is home to several defence and research organisations.  Government, industry and academic institutions should work together to make India a self-reliant in defence, said defence experts.
