Air China Takes Delivery of First A320neo Powered by PurePower® Geared Turbofan™ Engine Pratt & Whitney announced Air China has taken delivery of its first A320neo family aircraft, powered by Pratt & Whitney's PurePower® Geared Turbofan™ (GTF) engine. This aircraft is the first A320neo to be delivered to a Chinese operator from the Airbus Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Tianjin, China. The delivery comes after Pratt & Whitney recently announced a definitive agreement with Air China Limited and Shenzhen Airlines for 60 A320neo family aircraft, powered by the Pratt & Whitney GTF engine. The contract with Air China includes a 15-year EngineWise™ Fleet Management Program. Boeing, AerCap Announce Egyptair as Newest 787 Dreamliner Operator Boeing and AerCap announced at the 2017 Dubai Airshow that Egyptair will lease six Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The carrier is leasing the aircaft from Dublin-based AerCap, the world's largest 787 customer with more than 115 787s owned or on order. "The 787 Dreamliner has built a reputation for reliability, operational efficiency and passenger comfort," said Safwat Musallam, Chairman and CEO, EGYPTAIR Holding Company. "We look forward to the 787 becoming an integral part of EGYPTAIR's fleet as we progress our modernization and network expansion plans." Boeing Expands Oman Air 787 Global Fleet Care Services to Include Engines Boeing announced an agreement to provide custom services from the Boeing Global Fleet Care portfolio to Oman Air. The agreement, which provides Line Replaceable Unit support for 787 Dreamliner engines, builds on the foundation of a previously contracted Component Services Program with the airline in 2015 and strengthens the services commitment. Boeing, SCAT Airlines Finalize Order for Six 737 MAX 8s Boeing and Kazakhstan-based SCAT Airlines announced an order for six 737 MAX 8s on the final day of the 2017 Dubai Airshow. The agreement, valued at $674 million at current list prices, also includes purchase rights for five additional 737 MAX 8s. SCAT Airlines currently operates a fleet of 737s, 757s and 767s. Delta, Korean Air joint venture granted approval by U.S. DOT Delta Air Lines and Korean Air took a significant step in the creation of their trans-Pacific joint venture with approval of the joint venture by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The DOT approval reflects the consumer benefits that will be created by the new joint venture. The two carriers will deepen their relationship, offering customers in the U.S. and Asia an enhanced and expanded flight network as well as more compelling travel options. The airlines have also applied for approval for the joint venture from the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Hawaiian Airlines becomes new operator of the A321neo Hawaiian Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321neo, the carrier will use to expand its service on routes to U.S. West Coast markets beginning in early 2018. Hawaiian will launch daily A321neo non-stop service between Maui and Portland in January. This will be followed by A321neo service on the Kaua’i-Oakland and Kona-Los Angeles routes as Hawaiian receives additional aircraft. Airbus will deliver a second A321neo to Hawaiian later in 2017 with 14 aircraft to be delivered in 2018 and beyond. Qantas to Operate World’s First US-Australia Biofuel Flight Qantas announced it will operate the world’s first bio-fuel flight between the United States and Australia. The Los Angeles to Melbourne flight will take place early next year, in collaboration with World Fuel Services and Altair Fuels, and will see Qantas’ new Dreamliner being powered by Brassica Carinata (carinata), a non-food, industrial type of mustard seed. Carinata produces high quality oil, ideal for aviation biofuel, bio-jet for aircraft and bio-diesel for airport vehicles. The news of the flight follows Qantas’ siging of a landmark partnership with Agrisoma Biosciences (Agrisoma), the Canadian based agricultural-technology – company who developed the carinata seed. Somon Air will acquire a new 787 Dreamliner Somon Air and The Boeing Company signed a MOU for the acquisition of a new 787-8 aircraft to be delivered to the airline during the first quarter 2018. This historic agreement for Somon Air strengthens its decade long commitment to “Bring Tajikistan to the world and the world to Tajikistan” and furthers its partnership with Boeing. The B-787-8 Dreamliner will allow Somon Air to connect Central Asia with better access to Europe and the Far East as well as opportunities to the USA.
