AirAsia India launches ‘door-to-door baggage service’ in 3 metros
AirAsia India has started a “safe door-to-door baggage service” in Bengaluru, New Delhi and Hyderabad that will give passengers an option for doorstep baggage pick up from origin city and delivery at destination city. Called “FlyPorter”, the facility will allow passengers to travel without baggage. AirAsia India chief commercial officer Ankur Garg said: “This industry-first introduction of our FlyPorter service is designed to ensure that guests can travel without worrying about their baggage with a doorstep to doorstep delivery model. AirAsia has always been a pioneer in using technology to transform air travel and we are hopeful that our guests will benefit from this unique service.”
Civil Aviation Minister Puri's 'optimistic reading': Indian aviation to get back to 2019 levels by year-end
In what he admitted is the most "optimistic reading" of the aviation industry for any country, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said he expects India's domestic sector to reach pre-COVID-19 levels anytime between Diwali and the end of this year. "We will get to 55 percent of the original summer schedule by mid-July....and then you have four-and-a-half months to Diwali," said the minister, before adding that the sector will reach its 2019-level by the end of this year. Diwali, this year, falls on 14 November.
India sets two conditions for resumption of international flights
India will restart international flights only once its domestic traffic reaches 50-60% of pre-Covid-19 levels, and that other countries loosen travel restrictions, India’s civil aviation minister has said. “We can start regular international flights when our domestic traffic reaches about 50-60%, [and] other countries open up to international traffic without present conditionalities,” said Hardeep Singh Puri in a 21st June tweet reported Cirium 22nd June.
588 Flights Operated Under Lifeline Udan: Aviation Minister
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) at the weekend informed that 588 flights have been operated under Lifeline Udan by Air India, Alliance Air, IAF and private carriers to transport essential medical supplies amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country. "Lifeline Udan has seen 588 flights so far and has carried over 940 tonnes of cargo. The cargo essentially covered COVID-19 related reagents, enzymes, medical equipment, testing kits, PPEs, masks, gloves, medicines and other accessories and cargo requisitioned by state and UT governments," Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said. The minister said that the government is planning to add more flights in Vande Bharat Mission in 3rd and 4th phase.
