Boeing Delivers SpiceJet's First 737 MAX Airplane
Boeing and SpiceJet celebrated the delivery of the carrier's first 737 MAX 8. The airline plans to use the 737 MAX to expand and standardize its fleet, while leveraging the super-efficient jet to reduce fuel costs per airplane by $1.5 million a year. SpiceJet Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh said “We are excited to take delivery of our very first 737 MAX 8. The induction of our first MAX is a huge milestone in SpiceJet's journey. These new airplanes will enable us to open new routes, while reducing fuel and engineering costs, as well as emissions. The 737 MAX will dramatically reduce noise pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Passengers will benefit from a large number of premium seats and, for the first time in India, broadband internet on board."
GMR Hyderabad airport launches South India's first airport radio
GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIA) said it launched South India's first Airport Radio under its signature "#PassengerIsPrime" programme at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here. According to a press release by GHIAL, Mirchi Airport Radio is a 24x7 custom-produced, exclusive airport radio, creating a melodious theme to the travel experience for the passengers at the airport. CEO of GHIAL, SGK Kishore said, "It is our continuous endeavor to enhance the passenger experience at the Airport and the 'Airport Radio' concept is one of our many #PassengerIsPrime initiatives. We hope that the passengers would enjoy this welcoming and melodious feature that the Airport offers during their travel."
Hyderabad Airport’s interim international departure terminal to open on October 23
A new terminal at the Hyderabad Airport is all set to open on October 23! The interim international departure terminal at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, which was inaugurated recently, is all set to start its operations on October 23. According to the airport operator, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), all international departure flights will operate from this terminal with effect on October 23. The Hyderabad international airport which handled more than 18 million passengers in the financial year 2018 has now taken up an expansion programme in order to increase the capacity to 34 to 40 million passengers per annum.
IndiGo announces Hong Kong as its 15th international destination
IndiGo has announced Hong Kong as its 15th international destination. The airline to operate its daily non-stop flight between Hong Kong and Bangalore effective December 11, 2018. Mr. William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo said, “We are delighted to announce Hong Kong as the 15th destination in our international portfolio. One of the world’s biggest financial hubs, Hong Kong constitutes a strategic market for us. Hong Kong also caters to all kinds of travellers, be it family or a group of friends, and we see huge tourism potential in future from India.”
Sabre strengthens its partnership with Jet Airways
Sabre Corporation announced 17 October a renewed, full content, distribution agreement with Jet Airways - India's premier, full service international airline. Effective April 2019, Sabre's extended agreement with Jet Airways provides Sabre-connected agents across India and the world a path to access the full content of Jet Airways into year 2024.
