Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia says 'India to become global drone hub by 2030' Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announce last the week the aim of the government is to make India a global drone hub by 2030, adding that drone application will be ensured in transportation, logistic, defence, mining, infrastructure sectors. The Minister stated “We are going to ensure drone application in transportation, logistic, defence, mining, infrastructure sectors and more. It will provide more jobs. Our aim is to make India a global drone hub by 2030." DGCA Lifts Ban on Boeing 737 MAX The DGCA 26th August announced its latest order that lifted the Boeing 737 MAX ban after reviewing the approvals of the FAA and the EASA and 17 other regulators across the globe who have also allowed flight operations. The order stated "Post issuance of AD by FAA/ EASA and rescinding of the grounding order by FAA, DGCA has been closely monitoring the global trend with regard to un-grounding of Boeing Company Model 737-8 and Boeing Company Model 737-9 airplanes.A sizeable number of airlines (34) with B737 Max airplane (345) are operating currently and have attained 1,22,824 total departures with 2,89,537 cumulative hours since the un-grounding from December 9, 2020, with no untoward reporting.” India's aviation fuel demand surges with rebound in tourism Increasing demand for air travel post Covid lockdown is driving a spike in demand for jet fuel, the oil product hit hardest by the ongoing pandemic.Chairman STIC Travel Subhash Goyal estimated that domestic flights this month are around 75% of pre-virus levels. That’s translated into the biggest month-on-month increase in jet fuel sales in more than a year, according to preliminary data for the first half of August. SriLankan Airlines to enhance connectivity between India and Sri Lanka from September SriLankan Airlines which currently operates a total of eight flights per week from the cities of Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore to Colombo announced it will be increasing flight frequencies and adding new destinations effective from 1st September. Star Air connects Bengaluru with Jamnagar Star Air commenced its new triweekly service from Kempegowda International Airport to Jamnagar on under the UDAN (Ude desh ka Aam Nagrik or Regional Connectivity) scheme.
