Jetstar Asia Launches new Singapore to Wuxi route

Air China to raise $1 Billion to fund expansion

Air China is seeking to raise 7.8bn yuan ($1.09bn) through a private share placement as it looks to fund new aircraft acquisitions  and increase working capital.  A stock market filing outlined the plan and revealed that the majority of the funding, 4.2bn yuan, would be used to purchase 17 new aircraft. The filing stated, “The company intends to further optimize its fleet structure, rationally expand the fleet size, strengthen its security assurance capabilities, enhance the competitive advantage of its principal air transport business, and accelerate the realization of the company’s strategic planning.” 

 

Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) seeks to increase flights to USA

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) announced plans to increase flights between China and USA in 2024, which have increased to 63 weekly flights since November 2023, compared with 340 before Covid. CAAC expects 690 million passenger trips this year, both domestically and internationally, up 11% from 2023.

 

COMAC ARJ21 aircraft carries more than 10 million passengers

COMAC Aircraft announced the ARJ21 aircraft carried more than passengers since entering revenue service in June 2016. To date 117 aircraft have been delivered to airlines in China and Thailand serving 140 cities operating 400 routes with an average 1,800 flights per week. In an statement COMAC said “COMAC will continue to work hand in hand with customers to deepen domestic aviation markets, expand overseas markets, promote the large-scale operation of China-made commercial aircraft, boost the high-quality development of civil aviation, and make positive contributions to continuously meeting air passengers' travel demands for popularization and convenience.”

 

Jetstar Asia Launches new Singapore to Wuxi route

Jetstar Asia launched a new route between its Singapore Base and Wuxi, China operating four times weekly using Airbus A320-200 aircraft. Jetstar Asia CEO Barathan Pasupathi said “China is a critical market for Jetstar and our customers, so it’s great to start flying to Wuxi, our second Chinese port following the successful launch of flights to Haikou early this year. Our low fares will ensure our customers in China and Singapore can enjoy seamless and affordable connectivity between these two cities, bridging access to the Yangtze River Delta region. This will not only enhance travel experiences for business and tourism, but also enable families and friends to reconnect.”
