Air India receives Airbus A350 DGCA MRO Approval
Air India announced it formally received the DGCA approval for engineering line maintenance of its new Airbus A320 and A350 aircraft. This is a major step forward in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the six new A350-900 aircraft as engineers successfully completed training at the Airbus centre in Toulouse. Air India Chief Technical Officer S.K. Dash, said “This approval will further inspire us to ensure smooth operation of our fleet, including, of course, the A350, with the highest technical despatch reliability.”
Akasa Air fleet expands to 22 Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft
Akasa Air recently welcomed two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to its growing fleet. The carrier exited the calendar year 2023 with a fleet size of 22 aircraft, including 21 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and one Boeing 737 MAX 8 200 aircraft. Akasa Air Founder and CEO Vinay Dube said “Akasa Air’s remarkable growth testifies the sheer promise that India holds as an aviation market. The additions to our fleet will help us bolster the strength of our operations as we expand our footprint and foray into international skies in the coming months. Each addition to our fleet brings us closer to our purpose of connecting people, places, and cultures, and we hope that as we step into the next phase of growth, we will be able to serve millions of satisfied travellers across the globe.”
IndiGo creates history Becomes first Indian airline to welcome 100 million passengers a year
IndiGo created history by becoming the first Indian airline to carry 100 million passengers in a single calendar year. IndiGo has joined a select club of global carriers to operate on such scale. This development further cements IndiGo’s standing among the 10 largest airlines in the world by passenger traffic operating a fleet of 330 aircraft to 86 domestic destinations and 32 international destinations. IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers, said “We are incredibly delighted to achieve this historic milestone, welcoming aboard 100 million passengers in a year. This landmark figure isthe result of the love and trust shown by our customers and the hard work and passion of all IndiGo colleagues. This milestone is also a validation of our strategy which has been executed so diligently. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurates New Surat International Airport Terminal Building
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the New Surat International Airport integrated terminal building. The New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) with an area of 25,520 sqm is equipped to serve 1200 Domestic passengers and 600 International passengers during peak hours and 35 million passengers per annum. The Airports Authority of India stated “Air connectivity is key for unlocking economic growth potential, as it attracts business investment and human capital. This increased airport infrastructure and air connectivity at Surat will spur tourism, business, education and generate employment which is vital to the regions’ economic prosperity.”
