China Eastern Airlines announces Shanghai-Venice route
China Eastern Airlines announced a new route between Shanghai and Venice operating three times weekly using Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The introduction of the new route will greatly enhance travel convenience between Shanghai and Venice, allowing tourists from both cities to explore new destinations.
China, UAE sign MOU to boost connectivity
The United Arab Emirates, represented by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), held a round of Air Services Consultation's with the China Civil Aviation Authority (CAAC). The negotiations resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase air connectivity between the airports of the UAE and the airports of China.

Lufthansa Cargo announced Chinese market expansion adding two new routes from Frankfurt to Shenzhen Boa’an International Airport operating twice weekly in future and to Zhengzhou three times weekly using Boeing 777F aircraft. Lufthansa Cargo CEO Ashwin Bhat, said "In the Chinese market, the e-commerce business segment in particular is growing steadily, and we continue to see high demand, especially to Europe. Accordingly, additional air freight capacity is needed to transport goods quickly, compliantly and safely. With the expansion of our Asian network, we can now serve even more important freight destinations in China for our customers. This will be possible thanks to the new B777F freighter, which we expect to receive in the course of this summer. This will not only mean enabling global business for our customers in a sustainable way, but also growing as a company in an important cargo region.”
Virgin Atlantic to suspend London Heathrow Shanghai route
Virgin Atlantic announced that it will terminate its only route to mainland China between London-Heathrow and Shanghai Pudong International with the last flight service on October. The route is currently served using Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The carrier both cited operational costs and geopolitical tensions, particularly not being able to fly over Russia, as the main reasons for dropping the route, which significantly increases costs.
