Boeing Resumes 737 MAX Production  Boeing has resumed production of the 737 MAX at the company’s Renton, Washington factory. The 737 program began building airplanes at a low rate as it implements more than a dozen initiatives focused on enhancing workplace safety and product quality. “We’ve been on a continuous journey to evolve our production system and make it even stronger,” said Walt Odisho, vice president and general manager of the 737 program. “These initiatives are the next step in creating the optimal build environment for the 737 MAX.” The 737 program will gradually ramp up production this year. Bombardier Concludes Sale of the CRJ Series Regional Jet Program to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries  Bombardier confirmed the closing of the previously announced sale of the CRJ Series aircraft program to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd for a cash consideration of approximately $550 million, subject to post-closing adjustments and the assumption of liabilities by MHI related to credit and residual value guarantees and lease subsidies amounting to approximately $200 million. Bombardier will continue to supply components and spare parts and will assemble the remaining 15 CRJ aircraft in the backlog as of March 31, 2020 on behalf of MHI until the complete delivery of the current backlog, expected in the second half of 2020. MHI RJ Aviation Group launches as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. closes acquisition of CRJ Series Program from Bombardier Inc.  MHI RJ Aviation Group (MHIRJ) is launching as a newly created group of entities providing a holistic service and support solution for the global regional aircraft industry including the CRJ Series aircraft. The launch of MHIRJ coincides with the acquisition close of the CRJ Series Program from Bombardier Inc by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. Qatar Airways and American Airlines Strategic Partnership Begins with Domestic U.S. Codeshare Qatar Airways announced that the first stage of the strategic partnership with American Airlines has begun with Qatar Airways placing its code on American Airlines’ domestic flights, strengthening connectivity and creating hundreds of new travel options for passengers. The codeshare will be rolled out in phases over the next few weeks and once completed, will see Qatar Airways’ code placed on over 1000 of American Airlines’ domestic flights connecting with Qatar Airway’s 10 U.S. gateways.

SmartLynx Malta receives Foreign Air Operator Certificate to conduct operations in US airspace

SmartLynx Malta, received the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval, enabling the airline to conduct passenger and cargo operations to, from, and transiting the United States. The airline underwent several months-long process of application, followed by inspections and checks to ensure full compliance with US aviation regulatory bodies.
