Alaska Air Group names Patricia Bedient board chair as Brad Tilden retires Alaska Air Group's (AAG) Board of Directors announced that Lead Independent Director Patricia Bedient will replace Brad Tilden as chair of the company's Board of Directors, effective 5 May. Ms. Bedient will serve as independent non-executive chair, while Mr. Tilden served as executive chair. The announcement is part of a leadership succession plan that involved Tilden retiring as CEO in March 2021 and passing the helm to Ben Minicucci. Aviation Capital Group to Finance Volocopter Fleet of Aircraft for up to $1 billion Aviation Capital Group announced that it has entered into an agreement in principle with Volocopter, a pioneer of urban air mobility (UAM), to develop financing solutions that will assist with the sale of Volocopter’s family of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for up to $1 billion. Deliveries are expected to commence once the aircraft has been certified for commercial use by the respective civil aviation authorities. These include the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). For Volocopter customers, this agreement will offer an option and an opportunity to lease the aircraft through financing schemes, as is customary within the aviation industry. KF Aerospace Leases A B737-800SF To Chrono Aviation KF Aerospace announced the delivery of its B737-800SF to airline, Chrono Aviation. It marks KF’s first commercial lease of a B737-800 series freighter aircraft.KF Aerospace purchased the aircraft in 2021 and performed a full Passenger to Freighter Conversion program at its MRO facility in Kelowna, BC. It is the first B737-800 cargo door to be installed on a Canadian-registered aircraft using the AEI Supplemental Type Certificate (STC). KF Aerospace initiated the Transport Canada familiarization for this STC, as part of the project. iAero Airways Completes Certification For Boeing 767 Aircraft To Support Its Expanding Charter and Sports Team Businesses iAero Airways announced it has completed the rigorous FAA process of adding Boeing 767s to its ever-expanding fleet. The iAero Airways team worked closely with the FAA to accomplish this important certification.iAero Airways added the Houston Rockets VIP Boeing 767-300ER as the first of its kind in their fleet. Following the FAA guidelines and completing the required proving flights, the FAA has granted Operations Specifications to iAero Airways to begin revenue operations with the new aircraft type. Swoop Announces Significant Fleet Growth and Domestic Network Expansion Swoop announced it will grow its fleet from 10 to 16 aircraft with the acquisition of six new Boeing MAX-8 aircraft. Canada's fast growing ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) confirmed it will begin receiving all six aircraft this summer as the airline rapidly expands to meet peak season travel demand. The carrier will significantly expand its domestic network, adding non-stop flights to Newfoundland and increasing service in Atlantic Canada.
