ATSG 767 Freighter Deployments Expand into Africa, Mexico, and Southeast Asia Air Transport Services Group, Inc. (ATSG) announced that its leasing subsidiary Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM) has delivered a fifth converted Boeing 767-300 freighter to Atlanta-based package delivery giant United Parcel Service, Inc. The delivery of this aircraft fulfills CAM’s commitment to UPS for five converted Boeing 767-300 freighters and brings ATSG’s total deliveries this year to twelve. Continued strong demand for its converted Boeing 767 freighter aircraft has driven deliveries to record levels for ATSG. Calin Rovinescu to Retire as President and CEO of Air Canada Early Next Year Air Canada announced that Calin Rovinescu, its President and Chief Executive Officer, will retire on February 15, 2021, following completion of the Company's current fiscal year, after leading the company for almost 12 years. Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer, Michael Rousseau will succeed him upon his retirement. "I have enjoyed a unique and very special relationship with Air Canada and our outstanding people for over three decades, on the front lines of many of the company's defining moments - the 1988-1989 privatization, the defence against a hostile bid for Air Canada in 1999, our merger with Canadian Airlines in 2000, the aftermath of 9-11, leading the 2003-2004 restructuring and many others. But, more than anything else in my career, I am especially proud of the company's transformation over the last dozen years during which we built Air Canada into one of the world's leading carriers and a global champion for Canada, winning international customer and employee awards, growing our global network to serve all six inhabited continents, creating thousands of jobs and protecting pensions, producing record financial results, strengthening our balance sheet dramatically, delivering significant shareholder value, and above all, developing a lasting, empowered and entrepreneurial culture for our airline. Caribbean Airlines To Operate Its First Commercial Service Between Guyana And New York Caribbean Airlines will operate its first commercial service between Guyana and New York, on 19 October. Caribbean Airlines CEO Garvin Medera stated “2020 has been an unprecedented year for aviation. Our customers in Guyana and North America can count on Caribbean Airlines to reconnect them with their family and friends. We attach tremendous importance to our valued Guyanese customers and their loyalty to the airline. The full schedule will soon follow.” Horizon Air names aviator with 30+ years’ experience as new VP of Flight Operations Horizon Air's board of directors has elected Captain Carlos Zendejas to be the company's new vice president of flight operations. Zendejas will oversee Horizon's 700 pilots and its flight operations support team. A seasoned aviation leader, Zendejas has been flying for more than 30 years, which includes 22 years at the U.S. Air Force, where he served in active duty as a pilot and instructor. He joined Alaska Airlines in 2002 as a pilot, while serving simultaneously in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for 11 years before his retirement from the military. Triumph Receives Extended Contract For Boeing Ground Support Operations Triumph Group announced that its Triumph Systems & Support business received a two-year contract extension from Boeing for their ground support equipment (GSE) operation in San Antonio, Texas. Under the contract, Triumph will provide maintenance and support services for military and commercial aircraft at its Product Support - San Antonio site to ensure reliability and availability of critical equipment needed to service aircraft on ground through June 2022. United Airlines Announces Eight New Routes and Increases Flights to 19 Destinations in the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico for Winter Sun-Seekers United Airlines announced a significant expansion of its winter international schedule, introducing eight new routes and adding flights to 19 destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America. Starting in December, United will begin new nonstop service between Los Angeles and San Jose, Costa Rica and San Pedro Sula, Honduras; between Denver and Belize City, Belize and San Jose, Costa Rica; between Washington D.C. and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and returning service between Cleveland and Cancun, Mexico. In January, United will begin new nonstop service between Liberia, Costa Rica and both Los Angeles and San Francisco.
