China Southern Airlines boosts frequencies to Kazakhstan
China Southern Airlines is to increase frequency on the Astana to Urumqi route from two to three flights per week, effective from 30 May using Boeing 737 aircraft. Since 2023 a visa-free regime has been in effect between both countries facilitating unhindered travel creating new business and tourism opportunities.

The announced easing of regulations to boost international capacity. The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) will continue to streamline the approval process and boost support for international flights, promptly addressing any issues and challenges airlines encounter in restoring international services and will also guide airlines in enhancing the efficiency of existing air traffic rights to maximize route opportunities. During the recent May Day holiday, 1.897 million trips were made by tourists from China to nearly 200 countries and regions.

Spring Airline is to connect its Shanghai Pudong hub to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam operating four times weekly effective from 6 July using Airbus A320 aircraft. The route is a strategic move to capture a share of growing travel demand between China and Vietnam.
Trip.com reports more than 100% increase in outbound China travel bookings
Chinese travel site Trip.com reported more than 100% year-on-year increase in outbound hotel and air bookings, and better than 20% increase in domestic bookings in 2024Q1 results, with revenue up 29% to RMB11.9 billion ($1.6 billion). Trip.com Executive Chairman, James Liang, said “The year 2024 has begun with a significant increase in both domestic and outbound travel demand in China, facilitated by a more stabilized supply and further relaxation of visa requirements. Additionally, our global business has experienced robust growth, driven by our improved product offerings. We are committed to investing in product and technology innovations to deliver a superior travel experience to our users.”
