COMAC Delivers second C919 aircraft to China Eastern Airlines
COMAC Aircraft announced the delivery of second C919 to China Eastern Airlines. The aircraft registered B-919C was delivered on 16th July. China Eastern Airlines (CEA) officially signed a purchase contract of five C919 aircraft with COMAC in March 2021, becoming the world's first customer of C919 aircraft. CEA has set up a C919 Flight Department, in addition, selected excellent pilots with rich experience, fine craftsmanship and fine style of work for C919 aircraft, aimed at the goals of "flying with safety, flying with aspiration, flying with brand awareness, flying with creating benefits", and devoted to the high-quality operation of C919 aircraft.
New China-European partnership to increase Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) collaboration
The Organisers of Global Urban & Advanced Air Summit (GUAAS) Asia, Farnborough International, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Royal Aeronautical Society’s China Representative Office (RAeS China) to increase collaboration between the Europe and China Advance Air Mobility (AAM) sector and share global insight at GUAAS Asia to take place on 27-28 September 2023 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore and RAeS China’s Advanced Air Mobility International Conference (AAMIC) to take place on 28-29 August at Nanyuan Universe Hotel in Ningbo China.
Saudi Arabian Airlines connects Jeddah to Beijing
SAUDIA announced the launch of its first direct flight from its Jeddah base to Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX), China, operating four times weekly in collaboration with the Air Connectivity Program (ACP). This new route is in line with Saudi Aviation Strategy, which recognizes the importance of air connectivity in targeting key markets, such as China. Director General of SAUDIA Group His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar said “We are proud to expand our operations and offer new destinations to our guests. China is a very important route for SAUDIA, and the introduction of the new direct flights to and from Beijing not only boosts tourism but also strengthens the overall economic and cultural ties between the two nations. It facilitates increased travel, trade, and people-to-people exchanges, fostering stronger bilateral relations. Tourism is a pillar of Saudi Vision 2030, and China is ranked among the top global sources of tourists. This new route will be another large step forward towards Saudi Arabia’s ambitious economic diversification agenda and it can achieve much growth with more Chinese vacationers coming to the Kingdom. We are also very grateful for the continuous support provided by the Air Connectivity Program, which enables us to continue to grow as we work towards achieving our objective to bring the world to Saudi Arabia.”
The Cathay Group orders 32 Airbus A320NEO Family Aircraft
The Cathay Group announced its intention to purchase up to 32 Airbus A321neo and A320neo aircraft as part of expansion plans to grow its Hong Kong international aviation hub. The aircraft are expected to be delivered by 2029, and will be allocated to Cathay Pacific and HK Express, operating medium haul and short haul routes. Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer Ronald Lam said “We are committed to investing in the long-term future of the Group and the Hong Kong international aviation hub, which is expected to grow exponentially with the operation of the Three-Runway System. These aircraft models have been serving Cathay Pacific and HK Express well, allowing us to strengthen the expansion of our Chinese Mainland and regional network for our customers.”
