AerFin acquires six Airbus A330-200 Aircraft
AerFin announced the purchase of six Airbus A330-200 PW4168 powered aircraft with enhanced landing gears. The aircraft previously operated in the Asia-Pacific region. The transaction coincided with AerFin’s formal opening of its office in Singapore Office. AerFin Chief Investment Officer Auvinash Narayen, said “Our ability to work successfully as a trusted partner to the owner of these six A330s, its airline customer and the many other project stakeholders is another clear demonstration of AerFin’s technical and operational expertise. We continue to confidently execute the more complex sub-fleet exit opportunities on a global basis in a highly competitive origination environment.”
AviLease adds Boeing 787-9 aircraft from BBAM
AviLease announced the acquisition of a Boeing 787-9 aircraft from BBAM. The transaction marks the first collaboration between AviLease and BBAM and introduces the first Boeing 787-9 on operating lease to AviLease’s expanding fleet. AviLease CEO Edward O’Byrne, stated “We would like to thank our partner BBAM. We view this transaction as the beginning of a strong trading partnership. The Boeing 787-9, as new technology, fuel-efficient aircraft aligns well with our investment strategy. This acquisition further supports the yield of our portfolio.”
United Airlines leases 20 Airbus A321neo aircraft from SMBC Aviation Capital
SMBC Aviation Capital, announced that it has signed definitive lease agreements with United Airlines for twenty Airbus A321neo aircraft. The aircraft, previously announced as part of United’s fleet plan in April, are scheduled to deliver from 2026 onwards. SMBC Aviation Capital Chief Commercial Officer, Barry Flannery said “These, new, more fuel efficient aircraft will allow United to further grow their fleet and we are delighted to support them in this strategy. These agreements highlight the importance of our long-standing relationship with United and we look forward to many more years of successful partnership.”
Wafra acquires Aquila Air Capital
Aquila Air Capital announced Wafra has entered into definitive documentation to acquire the Aquila platform from Warburg Pincus, a global growth investor. As part of the transaction, Wafra will acquire a controlling interest in Aquila and provide substantial capital to support Aquila’s continued growth, furthering its mandate to purchase, sell, finance, and lease aircraft, engines, and other aviation equipment. The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2024, pending receipt of customary regulatory approvals. Aquila Air Capital CEO Al Wood, said "We are deeply grateful to Warburg Pincus for their belief in our vision and for supporting our growth over the last three and a half years. This milestone is a strong endorsement of our team’s hard work and the value we bring to the market. Partnering with Wafra will enable us to accelerate our expansion, introduce new products and services, and broaden our customer base globally."
