Air Italy’s First Milan-Miami Takes-Off From Malpensa The first Air Italy non-stop flight to Miami was inaugurated 8 June, taking off from Milan Malpensa at 1.00 pm, completing the new Summer 2018 network of services to North America following last week’s launch of daily service to New York JFK. Flights to Miami are offered four times weekly and are operated by an Airbus 330-200 offering 18 seats in Business and 236 in Economy class. Boeing and Turkish Technic Announce Global Fleet Care Supplier Agreement Boeing and Turkish Technic Inc., the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) arm of Turkish Airlines, announced signing of a Global Fleet Care supplier agreement. Turkish Technic is now a strategic Boeing supplier for line maintenance, heavy maintenance of airplanes, component service and repair. Boeing and Turkish Technic will collaborate together in the training and certification of technicians from different parts of the world. LOT Polish Airlines Ordered Six More Boeing 737 MAXs LOT adds six more new generation, narrow-body planes, Boeing 737 MAXs, to its mid-haul fleet. Five machines will be delivered from the Boeing plant in Renton in 2018 and the last is bound to reach Warsaw in 2020. The aircraft will be obtained thanks to co-operation with ALAFCO. Senate Panel Approves $17.7B for FAA Budget The Senate Transportation Appropriations Committee today approved $17.7 billion in budgetary resources for the FAA in Fiscal Year 2019, matching the total funding signed off last month by the committee’s counterpart in the House. The budget is included in a $71.4 billion transportation, housing and urban development (THUD) appropriations bill for FY2019. The FAA funding would accommodate 14,000 air traffic controllers and more than 25,000 engineers, maintenance technicians, safety inspectors, and operational support personnel, the Senate committee said. StandardAero Signs New Contracts with Mesa Airlines to Support its Fleet of APS2300 and RE220 APUs StandardAero has recently signed two, new, five-year contracts with Mesa Airlines, Inc. to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the airline’s APS2300 and RE220 auxiliary power units (APUs). With these new contracts, StandardAero now supports 100% of Mesa Airlines’ APUs. United Airlines' First 737 MAX 9 Takes Flight from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental On 7 June Today, United Airlines became the first North American carrier to operate the Boeing 737 MAX 9. The aircraft entered service as United flight 686 between United's hub at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Orlando International Airport in Florida.
