Airbus delivers 50th A320 Family aircraft assembled in the U.S.
Less than two years after Airbus delivered the first A320 Family aircraft from its Airbus A320 Family U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama, the company today delivered its 50th aircraft. The A321, designated MSN 7943, was delivered to Delta Air Lines. The milestone was celebrated by the facility’s employees, as well as Airbus Americas Chairman Allan McArtor and members of the Delta Air Lines delivery team.
Air Lease Corporation Announces Delivery of Azores Airlines' First A321neo
Air Lease Corporation announced 14 December that Azores Airlines SATA International (Portugal) received its first new Airbus A321neo aircraft. This aircraft is the first of six CFM Leap 1A engine-powered A321neos to be delivered to Azores Airlines from ALC’s order book with Airbus. The next five A321neos will deliver between now and early 2021.
Boeing, Avation PLC Deliver Philippine Airlines' 10th 777-300ER
Boeing leasing company Avation PLC celebrated the delivery of Avation's first Boeing airplane, a 777-300ER (Extended Range), that will be leased and operated by Philippine Airlines. This airplane is the 10th 777-300ER for Philippines' national carrier. Philippine Airlines took delivery of its ninth 777-300ER earlier in the week and will use the new airplanes primarily on routes from Manila to North America.
Delta selects Airbus A321neo for narrowbody fleet renewal
Delta Air Lines and Airbus have agreed to terms for a 100 firm and 100 option order for state-of-the-art Airbus 321neo (new engine option) aircraft with deliveries beginning in 2020. The new jets, which will be powered by Pratt & Whitney geared-turbofan engines, will feature cutting-edge safety, efficiency and comfort. Delta will configure the A321neo to a total of 197 seats including seating for 20 in First Class, 30 in Delta Comfort+ and 147 in economy. The delivery of the first A321neo is expected in the first quarter of 2020 with new aircraft arriving through 2023.
Funds Managed by Affiliates of Apollo Global Management to Acquire Sun Country Airlines
Funds affiliated with Apollo Global Management, LLC announced 14 December that they have signed a definitive agreement to acquire Sun Country Airlines the largest privately-held fully independent airline in the United States, from brothers Marty and Mitch Davis. The transaction, which is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions, is targeted to close during the first quarter of 2018. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Norwegian expands long-haul network with flights from US to Madrid, Amsterdam and Milan
Norwegian announced 14 December further expansion of its long-haul networks with four new routes between Europe and the United States to Europe: New York City/JFK and Los Angeles to Madrid; New York City/JFK to Amsterdam; and Los Angeles to Milan. Norwegian now offers 61 nonstop transatlantic routes between the US and Europe. To support the continuous growth at Los Angeles International Airport, Norwegian will open its fourth American crew base with 150 cabin crewmembers during the first quarter of 2018. The airline already has four crew bases for cabin crew and pilots in the U.S.
PSA Appoints Michael Bruhn as Vice President of Finance
PSA Airlines announced that Michael Bruhn has been promoted to Vice President of Finance. Bruhn will continue to report to President, Dion Flannery. In addition to his current responsibilities of overseeing the finance organization, he will assume leadership of a portion of the expanding Supply Chain organization at PSA.
