Air Lease Corporation Announces Lease Placement of Airbus A320neo Aircraft with Air Seychelles Air Lease Corporation announced the lease placement of one new Airbus A320neo aircraft on long-term lease to Air Seychelles (Republic of Seychelles) from ALC’s order book with Airbus. The new aircraft will feature CFM LEAP 1A-26 engines and is confirmed to deliver to the airline in the first quarter of 2020. Air Lease Corporation Announces Delivery of Airbus A321-200neo Aircraft with Air New Zealand Air Lease Corporation announced today the delivery of one new Airbus A321-200neo aircraft featuring Pratt & Whitney PW1133G-JM engines on long-term lease to Air New Zealand. This A321-200neo is the first of five Airbus A320neo family aircraft confirmed to deliver to Air New Zealand through 2019 from Air Lease Corporation’s order book with Airbus and joins two A320-200 aircraft currently on long-term lease to the airline. Barnes Aerospace Announces Long-Term Agreement with Boeing for 737 MAX Barnes Aerospace announced that it has entered into a long-term agreement with Boeing Propulsion for the manufacture of innovative titanium components for the Boeing 737 MAX. Barnes Aerospace will leverage its expertise and technology in the hot and super plastic forming of titanium fabrications to manufacture these products for the 737 MAX nacelle. Ethiopian flight from Addis Ababa to Los Angeles to transit via Lome Ethiopian Airlines announced that it has changed the ultra-long haul route from Addis Ababa to Los Angeles to transit through Lome, Togo as of 17 December. The new route will be the only and first of its kind to connect West Africa with the West Coast of the USA with a direct flight. Mr. Tewolde GebreMariam, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines said, “We are delighted to launch yet another long-haul direct flight which takes passengers’ experience to a new level by availing connectivity between West Africa and the West Coast of the USA. In line with our growth roadmap, Vision 2025, we will keep expanding our vast international network, and create better air connectivity options within Africa as well as between Africa and the rest of the world.” GA Telesis Signs New iGEAR Agreement with Major European Airline GA Telesis, LLC announced 5 November that a major European airline has entered into an exclusive multi-year agreement to receive rotable component flight-hour support through GAT’s Intelligent Global Engine and Airframe Replenishment (“iGEAR”) program for its fleet of widebody aircraft. This agreement will support the airline for five years with a multi-million-dollar dedicated pool inventory supporting a span of 125,000 flight hours. Readying the first additive manufactured part for the GEnx engines GE Additive and GE Aviation have announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has given ‘change in design’ approval to replace a conventionally manufactured power door opening system (PDOS) bracket, used on GE Aviation’s GEnx-2B commercial airline engines that power the Boeing 747-8, with an additively manufactured bracket. The new additively manufactured brackets will enter mass production at GE Aviation’s facility in Auburn, Alabama, using GE Additive Concept Laser M2 cusing Multilaser machines this month. GE Aviation anticipates the first GEnx engines installed with the new brackets will be shipped in January 2019. Singapore Airlines Continues U.S. Expansion With New Nonstop Flights From Los Angeles Singapore Airlines (SIA) will launch nonstop flights from Los Angeles to Singapore, the company’s third U.S. nonstop flight announcement in the past three weeks. SIA will use Airbus A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range) aircraft on the 8,763-mile route with a scheduled flight duration of 17 hours and 50 minutes. A Focus on U.S. Market Growth: New Flights From EWR, LAX, SFO, SEA. United Airlines Seeks Twice Daily Service Between New York/Newark and Shanghai United Airlines submitted a formal application to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for authority to increase service between New York/Newark Liberty and Shanghai Pudong beginning in June 2020. "Our application for a second daily flight between New York/Newark and Shanghai is in response to the demand for travel between each country's financial center, which has grown annually for the last several years," said Oscar Munoz, United's Chief Executive Officer. "If approved, this additional flight will help facilitate the development of increased business and tourism, provide additional capacity for customers and further enhance United's position both as the airline of choice to China and our hub at Newark Liberty International Airport as the premier East Coast gateway to Asia."
