Air Canada Significantly Expands Capacity to India
Air Canada announced strategic expansion of its international network to India, adding 40% more seat capacity for Winter 2024-25 season. The carrier will operate 25 weekly flights offering 7,400 seats per week from Canada to India operating 11 weekly flights from Toronto to Delhi and Mumbai and daily flights from Montreal to Delhi and daily flights to Delhi from Western Canada via London Heathrow.
Air Canada Executive Vice President – Revenue and Network Planning Mark Galardo, said "India is an important market for Air Canada, reflecting longstanding and growing family and trade ties between our two countries. We are thrilled to expand our network to Mumbai and Delhi by building additional scale at our hubs in time for Diwali festivities this fall. With new non-stop flights from Toronto to Mumbai, the addition of new flights to Delhi from Western Canada via London Heathrow, together with the unparalleled connectivity from our robust North American network, we are solidifying Air Canada as the leading airline offering the most travel options between Canada and India. We look forward to welcoming our customers onboard."
Air India connects Bengaluru and London Gatwick
Air India announced a new route connecting its growing Bengaluru hub to London Gatwick effective 18th August operating five times weekly operating by a two class Boeing 787-8 aircraft. The route will be its fifth from London Gatwick as serves Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa and Kochi. Air India CEO Campbell Wilson said “The service, which will further strengthen Air India’s presence in the UK, reinforces the strong economic and cultural links between India and the UK. We are delighted to offer our guests convenient, non-stop flights between Bengaluru and London Gatwick. This new route caters to the growing demand for travel between these two important business and leisure destinations, and strengthens our commitment to expanding our global network.”
IndiGo and JAL announce Codeshare Partnership
IndiGo and JAL announced a new codeshare partnership allowing Japan Airlines to strengthen its connectivity into India leveraging IndiGo’s extensive domestic route network. JAL operates daily services between its Tokyo Haneda hub and Delhi, and three times a week services between its Tokyo Narita hub and Bengaluru.
IndiGo Senior Vice President Network Planning & Revenue Management, Abhijit DasGupta said, “We are pleased to expand our portfolio of codeshare partnerships with this agreement with Japan Airlines. Japan has been increasing in popularity amongst Indian travellers, as both countries are working to strengthen bilateral relationships and ease the visa norms. This phase of the partnership expands the choices available to Japan Airlines customers for journeys to/from Japan, using IndiGo’s extensive network in India. This step to provide seamless connectivity to support trade, commerce, and tourism between the two countries. Over time, we intend to expand the scope of geographic and reciprocal coverage of this relationship to further grow travel opportunities for customers of both airlines.”
