Air India boosts European connectivity

Air India announced a new intermodal interline agreement with AccesRail to boost connectivity options for Air India customers in Europe, to more than 100 cities and towns in Europe and UK. Air India Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer, Nipun Aggarwal said, “The expansion of our global network is one of our key priorities in the ongoing, comprehensive transformation of Air India. This partnership with AccesRail not only helps us to provide our guests easy access to an extended network of destinations across Europe, but also to bridge the gaps in connectivity between India and Europe.”

 

IndiGo launches North Goa (MOPA) to Abu Dhabi route

IndiGo launched a new route between North Goa (MOPA) and Abu Dhabi effective from 2 September operating three times weekly, becoming the fifth city on its network to be connected to Abu Dhabi. IndiGo Head of Global Sales Vinay Malhotra said, “We are extremely pleased to commence operations between the popular seaside destination of North Goa (Mopa Airport) and the majestic skyscraper-filled city of Abu Dhabi. Over the years, we have witnessed a mounting demand for travel to the UAE, a demand that has only intensified in the post-pandemic era. As India’s largest carrier, we are driven to meet this demand by connecting these two prominent tourist hubs. With the addition of these flights, IndiGo will fly 52 times a week to Abu Dhabi from 8 cities in India, bringing the UAE even closer and complement the growing trade as well as tourism.”

 

Karnataka government plans to start regional carrier

The Hindustan Times reported Karnataka government plans to start regional carrier to boost connectivity as airport network expands and to enhance economic growth within the state, quoting Karnataka minister MB Patil.

 

Malaysia Airlines Expands Indian route network

Malaysia Airlines announced plans to commence three new routes between Kuala Lumpur hub to Ahmedabad, Amritsar, and Thiruvananthapuram (TRV) in India commencing on a phased basis in November and December 2023, increasing the number of Indian routes to nine, the new routes will operated by two class 160 seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG)  Group Managing Director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail said, “India remains a key market for Malaysia Airlines, hence we are delighted to introduce three new routes into our Indian network, which will provide added convenience for travellers, strengthen our presence in this core market and extend our Malaysian Hospitality service even further”.
