Cathay Pacific operates first International SAF flights
BOC Aviation appoints Chief Operating Officer (CCO)
BOC Aviation announced the appointment of Mr Thomas (Tom) Chandler as Chief Operating Officer (CCO). In his new role, he oversees Technical, Procurement, IT, Legal and Transaction Management and Compliance and Insurance Departments. BOC Aviation Deputy Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer Steven Townend, said "Management succession is an important part of any business. Our thanks go to David for his contribution and achievements over many years. We are delighted to welcome Tom to the senior management team and continue on our path of long-term sustainable growth."
CALC delivers the first Boeing 737 Max 8 to Virgin Australia
Hong Kong headquartered China Aircraft Leasing (CALC) announced the delivery of its Boeing 737 Max 8 to Virgin Australia, its first client in the Oceania region, and is also the first aircraft of the type to join the fleet of Virgin Australia. CALC Executive Director, Deputy CEO and CCO Winnie Liu, said “It is great to work with Boeing and Virgin Australia on the 737-8 successful delivery. The arrival of the first 737-8 not only marks a milestone in CALC’s history as it is the first aircraft type in our fleet but also boasts unparalleled fuel efficiency and gives strong support to the airline’s sustainable fleet optimisation program. Cathay Pacific operates first International SAF flights
Cathay Pacific announced its making progress towards achieving its goal of using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for 10% of its total fuel use by 2030 by uplifting SAF on its commercial flights for the very first time outside its Hong Kong hub. On selected dates in June SAF was uploaded on Cathay Pacific Cargo flights at Singapore. Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer Ronald Lam said “This is an important milestone for Cathay Pacific and our ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. We firmly believe that SAF will be the primary lever by which the aviation industry achieves net-zero carbon emissions. By expanding the uplift of blended SAF onto selected commercial flights at Changi Airport as well as our home hub, we hope to strengthen SAF awareness across the Asia Pacific region and send a strong signal to the supply chain that there is firm demand for SAF from airlines."
