Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) recovery picks up pace

Aeronautical Engineers Inc (AEI) expands into Chinese market  

Aeronautical Engineers Inc (AEI) announce it has added Grand China Aviation Maintenance Co, Ltd. (GCAM) to its authorized AEI Conversion Center partner network. Hainan Airlines will convert a minimum of three Aeronautical Engineers Inc Boeing 737-800SFs at its facility. AEI senior vice president of sales and marketing Robert T. Convey, said “While the global narrowbody conversion market has slowed somewhat over the last year, we are nonetheless expanding conversion capacity as we believe the market will improve with China recording a stronger recovery over the next several years.”

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) handled 3.3 million passengers in June, an increase of 6.9% and Cargo throughput and flight movements increased by 1.4% and 0.7% to 355,000 tonnes and 22,365, respectively. Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) Executive Director of Airport Operations, Steven Yiu, said “Passenger traffic at HKIA has recovered to about 60% of pre-pandemic levels, and saw a peak of over 127,000 passengers on 25 June – a record high after the pandemic.”

One Air launches China to London Heathrow operations

UK new start up cargo airline, One Air, has completed its inaugural Boeing 747-400 freighter service, operating a full charter on behalf of client Shandong Glory from Jinan-Shandong (China) to London Heathrow (United Kingdom). One Air’s Chief Operating Officer, Chris Hope, said “This is a landmark day for One Air and all our team and partners in the UK, who have worked so hard to prepare for our successful launch since the awarding of our AOC by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. As well as ad hoc charter flights, we are now also commencing a regular flying programme from Asia Pacific to Europe with two 747F flights per week. Work is also under way to add a second 747F to our fleet, which we hope will enter service in early Q4. We are delighted to be open for business.”

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) collaborates with Air China

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced a new collaboration with Air China to increase connectivity between China and Pakistan to16 cities in China via Beijing in partnership with Air China, on its once weekly service commencing 6 August, according to Radio Pakistan.
