IndiGo adds Jaffna 34th International destination

Air India commences construction of MRO facility in Bengaluru

Air India Group commenced construction of a mega Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Bengaluru. The upcoming MRO facility, being built on a 35-acre land parcel at the Bangalore International Airport will become an important hub for Air India group airlines’ aircraft maintenance operations in the region and plans to make Bengaluru as one of its key hubs, boosting direct connectivity to global destinations. Air India Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Mr Campbell Wilson said, “India’s aviation sector is on a growth trajectory and Air India is playing a leading role in this. The Bengaluru MRO facility is coming up at an opportune time to help strengthen India’s aviation ecosystem, while enhancing our in-house capabilities to maintain our fleet. This is a step ahead in our mission to make Air India a world-class airline.”


Air Kerala plans for March 2025 Launch

Zettfly Aviation Pvt Ltd trading as Air Kerala, a new Indian airline startup based in Kerala, is set to launch operations by March 2025. This follows a crucial meeting between its management, India’s Civil Aviation Minister Shri: Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, and senior officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The new carrier plans to start with a fleet of three ATR 72-600 aircraft.

 

Akasa Air appoints Sejal Haribhakti Mody as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)

Akasa Air announced the appointment of Sejal Haribhakti Mody as its Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective September 9. Sejal will be responsible for leading Akasa Air’s human resources strategy, driving organisational and functional transformation, enterprise performance and talent management. Akasa Air Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Vinay Dube said “Sejal’s deep expertise in organisational transformation, change management and her passion for building strong, people-centric cultures will be instrumental as we continue to scale our operations and maintain our commitment to providing world-class customer experience rooted in employee centricity,”

 

IndiGo adds Jaffna 34th International destination

IndiGo commenced operations to Jaffna effective from 1st September. Jaffna is IndiGo's second destination in Sri Lanka after Colombo and marks the 34th international and 122nd overall destination in its rapidly expanding 6E network. The strategic route will strengthen the cultural and trade ties between India and Sri Lanka. According to data over 21,000 passengers used the route in first 9 months of 2023. IndiGo Head of Global Sales Mr. Vinay Malhotra said, "We are pleased to announce the commencement of our operations to Jaffna, our latest destination in Sri Lanka. This short but a significant flight is a strategic addition, which is poised to further enhance trade and tourism between India and Sri Lanka. The new daily direct flights from Chennai to Jaffna promises a shorter travel time of just 75 minutes, reflecting our unwavering commitment to providing superior connectivity and a diverse range of destinations.”
