Vietjet deepens Vietnam-India connectivity
Air India commences aircraft fleet refit programme
Air India has announced the launch of a comprehensive refit programme valued at $400 million to revamp 67 long-haul and short-haul aircraft in its fleet. This phased upgrade will introduce a refreshed Air India experience, featuring a modern three-cabin configuration with new seats, carpets, curtains, and upholstery. The first narrow-body aircraft to enter the programme is VT-EXN, a single-aisle A320neo, followed by 26 Airbus A320neo aircraft, followed by 40 Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 aircraft. Air India's Engineering team will coordinate the project with leading global OEMs such as Collins, Astronics and Thales.
Etihad Airways celebrates 20 years flying to India
Etihad Airways celebrated 20 years of flying to India this month. Etihad launched flights to the commercial capital of India, Mumbai, on the 26 September 2004. Since launch operations, Etihad has flown more than 172,000 flights and connected more than 26 million passengers between India, the UAE and beyond. Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer, Antonoaldo Neves, said “India is a strategically important market for Etihad and we’re extremely proud to be celebrating 20 years of flying to this incredible country. When the young and ambitious Etihad launched flights to Mumbai in 2004, it was Etihad’s 8th global destination and since then we’ve expanded to 80 destinations with a vision to offer 125 destinations by 2030. This year, we are proud to offer Indian travellers a greater number of flight options from 11 gateways across India making Etihad the leading airline for connectivity for Indian travellers to the Middle East, Europe and North America.”
Tourism Malaysia welcomes Air India’s return
Tourism Malaysia welcomed the reinstatement of Air India‘s direct flight from 15th September, connecting its growing New Delhi hub to Kuala Lumpur with new daily flight operated by two class Airbus A320neo aircraft. Malaysia aims to welcome 1 million Indian tourists by the end of 2024. Air India Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Aggarwal, said: “As we inaugurate our Delhi-Kuala Lumpur route, we are not just connecting two cities; we are contributing to the growing exchange between two rich cultures and supporting bilateral trade and tourism. We look forward to welcoming guests aboard from India and Malaysia, as well as from North America and Europe who will now find a convenient way to connect to and from Kuala Lumpur via our hub in Delhi.”
Vietjet deepens Vietnam-India connectivity
Vietjet announced plans to deepen connectivity between India and Vietnam, launching a new route from Ahmedabad to Da Nang in Vietnam operating twice weekly from 24th October. Vietjet currently operates eight routes with over 60 flights per week from New Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, and Ahmedabad connecting with Da Nang, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City
